Let’s be honest—if you’ve been following me for a while, you already know my brain doesn’t do “sit still and behave.” Having ADHD means I’m always learning, hyper-fixating on something new in nature, or finding weird and wonderful ways to connect with the wild.
I’ve got a couple of updates from the woods—one you probably already know about if you’ve been on my walks, and one that’s fresh off the press!
The Music in the Dirt
I’ve been a Brand Ambassador for PlantWave for about 8 months now, so this isn’t brand-new news—but if you haven’t seen me plug this gadget into a wild leaf or an oyster mushroom yet, you are missing out.
It takes the natural electrical pulses of a plant and turns them into live music. No, it’s not alien magic, and no, I haven’t lost my marbles! It’s just mind-blowing to stand in the woods, listen to a mushroom literally make music, and watch everyone’s jaws drop. For an overthinking brain, it is the ultimate “shut up and just listen” button.
Leveling Up in the Woods
On top of the plant music, I officially passed my Wilderness Survival qualification! I spent proper time out in the elements getting my hands dirty with bushcraft, navigation, shelter skills, and real outdoor survival.
Now, don’t panic—I am not going to start making you build mud huts, sleep in ditches, or eat raw bugs. I’m not turning into a military drill sergeant! The whole reason I did this training is so that when you come out with me, you are in 100% safe hands. Whether we’re wandering off the beaten track or trying wild foods, I’ve got the hard skills to keep us safe, grounded, and confident out in the wild.
What Does This Mean for You?
It just means our walks are getting even better, more hands-on, and way more fun.
If you’ve got kids, our Wild Family Foraging Days are built to get everyone muddy, learning real nature secrets, hunting for edible goodies, and listening to the trees play live music. It gets the whole family off their phones and back to being proper humans for a few hours.
Or, if you’re looking for a proper breather, my York Foraging & Folklore Walks (over on Airbnb) are built for both tourists visiting for the weekend and locals who’ve lived here forever. We wander around York’s green spots, talk wild plants, share ancient local folklore, and take a genuine break from the madness of everyday life.
No fancy airs and graces, no preachy nonsense—just good people, wild nature, and a bit of forest magic.
